Debbie Cousins's Journal, 21 Oct 22

Back down to the teetering 230 pounds this morning. Maybe tomorrow I'll dip into the 220's!

I've decided to throw away one of the creme brulees. It is browner than I really like it on the top, and I'm thinking the bruleed sugar might taste burnt. Not even going to try it. By doing that, I'll save myself 310 calories this week. Already ate the "last" other one this morning.

Just to be clear, I don't fault my daughter for giving me the decadent dessert. Like her mother, she likes to make people happy by giving them food. As an adult, I DO have the option to decline her offer, and she would be completely understanding if I did. What I've found, though, is that I can work in the occasional dessert and still stick to my diet plan. Having that option keeps me from feeling deprived, which usually makes me go overboard.

Found out yesterday that my granddaughter (12) is "dating" a transgender boy (same age). For any who don't know, transgender means he was born a girl but identifies as a boy. I'm still processing all this.

Hope everyone is looking forward to a good weekend. I know for some of you, it is harder to stay on your programs on the weekend, and I'm praying for you!

I like your comment that as an adult we do have the option to decline. lol, every generation seems to be more open to differences :)

Let's hope the little girl will change her mind back before they start to do modifications to her body. Many have said that's a lifetime of heartache and they wish they hadn't done it. Calling it dating at that age is problematic since she'll probably want to date other boys earlier. I wasn't allowed to date till I was 16. These days most girls are starting very young. Without being dedicated to Christ, many become sexually active very early. So sorry for your worries. My daughter is so weak she can't walk to the bathroom by herself. She's chalking it up to her other problems rather than cancer in her liver but it sounds like the liver to me since she is bloated and jaundiced. The liver and pancreas usually go fast.

you and me both sister. I'm cheating to much and getting lazy, and paying for it.

I'm firmly in support of working in treats...provided they're truly a treat. Glad you recognized you're under no obligation to eat overdone brulee. You have your daughter, I have my husband and his biscotti. Got home from work yesterday to find out he'd baked his first cake ever -- from scratch, no less!

@writingwyo, at least my daughter doesn't live at home - I'd have a really hard time with a husband who liked to bake! @deeboxer, let's both stay on the right track. @Jergens123, nice to see you, too. I've been "back" since June. @NAVYWIFESKI, my weekend is going well - I've been getting my grandson every Saturday to take him to the different fall and Halloween events. @Sidnay123, having the choices to decline and being able to MAKE that choices are often two very different things. I wasn't able to throw away the semi-burnt creme brulee yesterday. It is still in my freezer. I might just try to peel the top off and eat the cheesecake-y part underneath. I can fit it into my daily calories and still stay in the 1,400's today.
