Debbie Cousins's Journal, 05 Feb 23

Weight was slightly up for the past few days (just didn't get around to reporting it, sorry). Back down to where it was, with 0.8 extra pounds lost on top of that. It's 209.0 this morning. I would LOVE for it to be 208.6 in the morning, because then I will have lost exactly 50 pounds! If I don't make it this week, I'll surely do it next week.

On target to have my lowest Average Daily Calories this week. Won't know for sure until I get through today and make sure I don't get up and eat anything during the night (which I did do twice this week, but worked it in).

My dieting IS like a roller coaster, somewhat. It's very scary going UP for me, just like on a roller coaster, but the ride down is exhilarating (thought sure that was spelled with an "er" not an "ar". My spelling and grammar skills must be slipping with old age.

Today is day 103 of walking at least a mile a day, and Day #35 since i worked it up to 2.5 miles a day. I started by walking just 1/2 mile at a time (ten circuits through my whole house), and it took me about a half hour to do it. Now, I do each 1/2-mile segment in about 15 minutes and take breaks between stints. Someday, I'll increase to walking 1 mile at a time. It's time-consuming, especially since I rest for 15-30 minutes between segments. Takes me 2-3 hours to complete my walking each morning. But, I usually do it from 4am until about 7am and then I'm done for the day. By the end of this year, I'd like to be walking five miles a day! Is a 5K more or less than five miles? I don't do metrics.

Had one bowl of the Chicken 'n Dumplin's I made for my son's birthday. Counted it as 450 calories (the amount in a bowl of Cracker Barrel's c&d). Would have loved to have another bowl, but I quit at one so I could send a huge amount of it to my son. I made three recipes of it because he loves it!

Next week is a planned high-calorie week to keep my metabolism guessing. Going to have Chicken Casserole, Parsleyed Potatoes and String Beans for lunch Tuesday through Thursday and Homemade Lasagna Friday through Sunday. Tomorrow, I'm getting Outback with a gift card we received for Christmas. I'll eat 1/2 of the Victoria's Filet Mignon (3oz) on Monday and have the other half with an egg on Tuesday morning for breakfast. I'll eat the salad on Monday and save the baked potato to give half of to my grand daughter on Tuesday and Wednesday when I take her home from school. She loves baked potato with ranch dressing, black olives and bacon - as do I. I will have a small ramekin (about 200 calories) of creme brulee on four of the days. On Sunday, my husband will be getting a Pecan Pie from his mother, but I'll have to wait until next Monday to work in a slice.

That's my plan. It will be a week of planned indulgences at about 1,700 calories per day. The following week, I'll knock my calories back down probably to around 1,500.

Ok, It's already 7am and I've only walked 1 mile so far. Hopping to it!
