Debbie Cousins's Journal, 02 Mar 23

Wow, I forgot to Journal yesterday. I got up at 2:45 and worked all day cleaning out an old office of mine, and my husband is cleaning out the "laundry room" (12'x24'). Day before yesterday, we hauled 30 bags of trash from our cleanup. Yesterday, we hauled ANOTHER 30 bags plus some boxes! Lots of purging going on over here! When I started, you could not walk past the doorway, and there was not 12" of floor space that didn't have something on it. Now, there's nothing on the floor and only the things I want (computer, laminator, etc.) on the huge desk. I still have some deep cleaning I need to do, like shampooing some stains on the carpet, dusting the blinds and on top of the hutch and book case. Otherwise, the room is completely DONE!

I even had BIG NEWS to tell yesterday. I upped my walking from 2-1/2 to THREE miles a day. AND, instead of just walking 1/2 mile at a time, I'm doing a whole mile at a stint. These are really big accomplishments for me. I've already gotten in my 3 miles this morning. Quite a lot of progress from huffing and puffing trying to do 1/2 mile (in 1/10th of a mile increments!) about six months ago. Could it be that I'm becoming "a walker"?!!! My goal for this year was to get up to walking 5 miles a day. When I started 2023, I was only doing 2 miles a day, but I quickly upped it to 2.5, which I maintained for almost 2 months before stretching myself again to get up to 3.

I'm amazed that God has given me the motivation and energy to get so much done lately! It's quite unusual for my couch-potato self. It would be a miracle if this becomes the new norm for me!

The reason we started the clean-up was because when my mother-in-law dies, we are inheriting her house, which means we would have to move OUT of this one! That would be a monumental task with the condition my house is in, with three "junk rooms, and several cluttered others. She has the type of house she can "show" to anyone who comes over, taking them to each room - all completely organized, decorat3ed, and clean. It will be a mammoth undertaking to try to maintain that level of near perfection. I hope she NEVER dies!!!

Oh, another bit of good news. I went to the dermatologist day before yesterday about a yeast infection I've been treating since November. I've had to put this yukky cream on it twice a day (under my breasts, under my hanging belly and in my groin area). When I first started going, it was a very angry RED. Now, while it is still present in all the afore-mentioned areas, it is a light pink. I was very discouraged because I thought it should have been GONE by now. BUT, she said it IS gone, and the pinkness is some (big long name) after-effect concerning the skin pigmentation, and that it's nothing that needs to be treated. PTL!

OK, I haven't done dishes for three days while I've been power cleaning. Both sinks are completely full. I DO usually keep my kitchen clean and tidy, so I've got to get on that.

Hope everyone is having a good week!
