Debbie Cousins's Journal, 17 Mar 23

Weight is a little better this morning after having BM's yesterday and this morning before weigh-in. Having my grandson here from 8:30-3:30 is taking its toll, though. It is very stressful. Thankfully, he doesn't mind taking the MiraLAX, he's not as reluctant to sit on the toilet now, and he likes doing the exercises. Getting him to drink his water and get in the fruits and vegetables is a lot more challenging! Plus, he wants you to be engaged with him every minute. My husband and I have a lot of things we wanted to get accomplished today, and finding out at 5am that we'll be having him AGAIN all day will make everything so much more difficult. Sigh.

Sweets are still out of control. Exercise is still consistent. Today is day 19 since I upped my walking to three miles a day. It seems to have gone by quickly. Almost FIVE MONTHS since I started walking a mile or more a day. I don't think I've ever in my life exercised consistently for that length of time, so it is a major accomplishment!

OK, lots to do in the next two hours before Jack arrives!

Kids like grapes — they’re sweet and also a finger food— and they’re fibrous to help with the constipation. Maybe you could also get him outside to accompany you on a mile walk.

I didn't sleep last night worrying about your little boy with his compacted constipation. :( Thoughts I had overnight... 1. colonic irrigation if he doesn't poo soon. 2. licorice. If we were ever constipated, and we wouldn't drinkt eh castor oil, mum would feed us real licorice, the black stuff with licorice root in it not the modern pink stuff, and that would bring things about. 3. going to the zoo. or similar. The beach. A day of fun physical activity. 4. we only ever had brown bread to eat, porridge for breakfast (porridge is good for keeping things going), we ate salads a lot. 5. Coleslaw. Boy does cabbage make things move. If your 7 yr old still wants constant interaction, maybe he's not getting tired out properly? walking to the park and throwing a ball around, or climbing a hill, might help wear him out, move things through, etc. and then he might be willing to calm down when he gets home and watch a video or something. :) I am glad things shifted for you, praying for your wee grandson that he can take a pooh before it gets so scary painful to pass it he doesn't allow it to come out.

Thank you so much, Bubbles McBubble & JustBananas. I appreciate the concern and suggestions. We’ve been trying to get him to do ten minutes in f strenuous activity twice a day (running, squats, jumping jacks, sit-ups, etc). He’s having a REALLY rough day today. His poor honey is so red from so many bouts of diarrhea, and wiping. We’re keeping him overnight to continue his MiraLAX treatments. He just broke out with a rash on his arms - probably from all this stress. Poor little guy!!!
