I need to figure out a way to avoid snacking with Hubs at night. I had been pretty good before. However with him home more, the temptation to snack on chips, ice cream and cookies is growing. Last night I had ice cream and Cheetos after supper. Bad me! I have been freezing flavored ice and eating calorie free snow cones at night to help some. Chalking up the Memorial day weekend as a free pass and buckling down now. On the bright side the tempting snacks have been eaten now so no more temptation.

Vacation next week is a lot walking, less meals and such so hopefully that will get me back down to the 113 range.

I eat a snack after dinner every night. I did this all during weight loss, too. I make sure I have lower calorie treats on hand. Hubby has his snacks, too. Since I'm in maintenance, I sometimes have a reasonable portion of the same snack as Hubby....cake, ice cream, etc. Other nights, I stick with my snacks.

@SherryeB Yes, I am going to try that. Portion control I need to put things in bags so I don't scarf too much.

My husband is a huge, snack on calories after dinner guy, and I know how hard that can be. I don’t let him reel me into his habits anymore. I sip on decaf coffee with frothed Nut Pod creamer and a splash of sf Torani and some cinnamon. That usually is enough to keep me out of trouble. USUALLY…Lol😆

First question to ask yourself is "Am I hungry? Or am I just snacking because it's a habit to do this at night with Hubs?" If you're not hungry, obviously you can do something else but still spend time with Hubs. Low calorie but healthy munchies can be frozen grapes, strawberries, or crudites like baby carrots, radishes, bell peppers. I would definitely avoid stocking the junk food at home. If Hubs is going to be home more, a strategy is needed, agreed. Could you guys go for a long walk after dinner, too?

@teachertracey Hello fellow Tracey. I am Traci. Yup, I need reel in my eating habits. Think I will try to stick to the sugarless ice or a spoon of peanut butter. @JustBananas I do enjoy carrots. I don't usually eat ice cream with him but did last night. Salty snacks temp me more in the evening.

Agree with @justbananas but also are you making sure to eat enough during the day? Often I see new clients who have trouble not snacking at night but they are being too restrictive or just not eating enough during the day (usually not enough protein and/or calories overall). So if your body is hungry it will try to make up for the lost calories in the evening which can lead to overindulging or binges

@lboogieb That is likely the issue, the not eating enough during the day. I typically have an Atkins shake in the morning, a bar or lunchable at lunch then a snack around 3 then eat a larger supper.

The only way that I have been able to curb my late night snacking is to do 12/12 or 16/8 fasting. If I stay within my eating windows it leaves no room for late night snacking. If I absolutely can’t hold off I have tea with a bit of honey and that usually quells the cravings. Good luck!

No sugar added Fudgesicles are my go-to. Most of the time I'd rather have a sliced high-quality, flavorful apple, but now and then when I'm tempted to share my boyfriend's ice-cream, I'll dig these out of the back of the freezer.
