Recovery from knee replacement going along well. It’s only been 8 days since surgery, and already I’m back up to walking 8/10 of a mile (might be able to make a whole mile today). It’s a far cry from the 6-miles-a-day regimen I was on before surgery, but I’m pleased with the progress. Having in-home Physical Therapy 2x/wk for another 2-3 weeks. Then, on to out-patient PT. My husband, Alan, has been a real trooper! He has kept up all the dishes, and laundry, and kept my knee iced and elevated, which has helped considerably with reducing the swelling. I quit the pain pills day before yesterday. Just using Tylenol now. Constipation issue caused by pain meds is now resolving itself. Haven’t had as much of an appetite as usual, but forcing in at least 100g Protein (for wound healing) and 25+ grams of Fiber. Overall, I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made in just a little over a week.

Debbie im so proud of you for focusing on the protein. Your healing sounds like it’s going wonderfully. You will be back up to your daily walks in no time at all. Bless Alan because it’s a lot to take over when your partner is down for the count for a little bit. Hope all else is well with you and your family and so glad you’ve come thru this. Im at day 9 and not doing as well as you but trying. Tried to kick narcotics yesterday and managed about 15 hours and had to cave at 3 am. Rotten night. God bless you Debbie🥰

Yearofhealth2023, your surgery was much more extensive than mine! I think it’s very understandable that you would still have a need for the pain meds, with so many different areas being affected! You’ll get off them as soon as you are ABLE to - give yourself the time you need to heal.

I am it just sucks Debbie because i dont like the way they make me feel mentally. I dont understand why anyone would want to be a drug addict when it drowses your thoughts out and makes your tummy sick. I dont get it.

Debbie; I’ve been following your entries for a while and I’m really impressed and happy that you have found your flow and no longer do any crazy 58 day fasts or butter bread binges. I remember you’d wake up and eat bread with lots of butter randomly (I could be wrong too, please forgive me). I’m even more impressed by your walking 👊🏻 the old Debbie would have used the knee surgery as an excuse not walk and drink nothing but Diet Coke and binge on bread with butter 😁 Love that you are able to enjoy everything by logging and not falling into destructive binges. Not every is a perfect day but you are crushing it 👊🏻💪🏻👏🏻

Congratulations on walking so quickly after knee replacement. That is awesome. And y’all are doing a good job taking care of it, keeping it iced an elevated. That will help so much.
