Today marks a most unhappy memory: the passing of my wonderful mum. Leukaemia was a wholly unjust path set upon her, though she nonetheless walked and endured it with great poise, continuing to display her warmth and selflessness to the end of her road, fearful as she was. Her concerns, as ever, laid with her family, friends, and even for the nurses who walked with her a while towards her journey's end. To our greatest regret, her path did not cross with those of her grandchildren. With stories and pictures, we do as best we can to evoke a presence of their nanna in their lives, though heavy is our sorrow for the warmth of her love they'll never know, that once we cherished so completely. It was as a great hug, assuring and safe. There is little I wouldn't give to see the joy on my mum's face as my children burst along the front garden path to greet her visit, exclaiming "NANNA!" as they wrap their arms tight around her legs. To her, it would have been as Heaven.
