Debbie Cousins's Journal, 26 Oct 23

Well I did it! Today is the 365th day since I started walking at least a mile every day. In total I walked 350 days - took the day off when I had total knee replacement on 7/27/23 and took two weeks limping with a walker to be able to get back up to a mile.

Because I do all my walking in my house, I haven’t been restricted by rain, snow, sleet, hale, or Virginia humidity. At times, I was limited by knee pain, but I always still walked at least a mile, regardless of how much it hurt.

During that year, I lost right at 50 pounds (76 since last June). I've also increased my stamina from only being able to walk 1/4 mile at a time with great difficulty to being able to walk a mile at a time pretty easily.

Maybe someday I’ll be able to say it’s been a year since I had a Diet Coke!
82.5 kg Lost so far: 35.0 kg.    Still to go: 14.4 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

Congratulations on your accomplishment. You should be very happy with your results. Maybe your post has motivated me to do the same. I have a treadmill that I haven’t used in months and I need the exercise and weight loss. Thanks for your post.

I also love that you kept the goal simple and do-able. I have a tendency to go to big then not do it consistently. 1 mile (about 20 minutes) is something easier to fit in. And it's awesome you found a way to do it in your house so weather can't stop you! You are amazing!
