DavidLoseweight's Journal, 11 Mar 24

So I had to stop dieting for several months because I had plateaued. I had seen an endocrinologist for a different reason and asked her about the fact I wasn't losing any more weight. She said that I probably needed to go unrestricted because the body had got used to the low calorie intake. So I did with some relief to be honest particularly as it was coming up to XMAS and I returned to the UK for a holiday with my family. We also went to Marrakech and you don't want to be dieting there... So I put on some weight predictably and now I'm starting another two week FastFX challenge, and then calorie restriction for a while. Let's see how it goes... hopefully well...

Interested also, thought this is only a risk if very low?

The two week challenge is under 1000 calories. After that I went on to one shake a day and was hitting 1200 to 1300 calories, then going up to around 1500 or so a day and was doing that for several weeks.

Now I'm doing the two week challenge so back to 1000 calories for two weeks.

The FastFx diet is a complete diet. It's been designed by gatroenterologists and the shakes are nutritionally sound and complete. Also when you get the challenge kit you get a book which itemises everything daily for two weeks. It includes some really tasty salads each day with the entire recipe, and what snacks you can have each day, etc. plus tips and a guide to the whole thing. After following this type of regime it's reeducated me on the best low calorie snacks, and so forth. I'm much better at picking the right kinds of foods. The diet did work and it does work.

I think going unrestricted might be a good opportunity to just practise using your ultimate future eating pattern, one dietitian I read said one non diet diet is just to eat what you would need for maintenance when at your target weight. Doing this would slowly move you in that direction, and would of course not be a severe restrict if even able to be considered a restrict. Im assuming going unrestricted does not mean going crazy, just not being strict?

I didn't go crazy no. I just ate without counting the calories but since I am more aware of what is high low calorie, etc. I was able to make better choices. I did eat a few things I don't normally, like some desserts etc. but not all the time. My body normalised but put on weight again. This happens even to bariatric patients who perhaps don't go quite as strict once they are some time out of the surgery.
