Transformation Butterfly's Journal, 16 Feb 16

I really stressed out. It's 2:10 am and I can't sleep. I have the neighbors from hell. My bedroom wall is also their living room and they come home at 11:00 pm every night argue, play loud music or have friend over and party Monday-Friday. I am too tired to work out at 4:00 am any longer and I have to be at work at 8:30 and focus on accounting. I have tried talking to them and I have been told you need to sleep in another room. I don't want to call the police as this will only make the problem worse. It's getting worse and I can't afford to move.

I am not eating junk food,I don't drink or smoke and my weight is still going up. I so tired that I come home eat a little something and try to go to bed before 8 just so I can get a few hours of sleep before they come home. I have tried ear plugs no help. I don't want to start taking sleep pills as I don't believe in drug but something gotta give.

I requested to go to lunch at 11:00 am at work so I could walk the path in the park again. So badly out of shape that I could only make it around the path once.

I work in accounts too and i know how stressful it can get, when i get home from work i dnt even have the energy to go to gym but i just do it anyway because i dont have a lift to gym in the mornings......I had a look at your food journal, try recording everything, it does make a massive difference, to me it really made a difference...also try cutting down your carbs to about 150 and upping your protein to roughly 1g per kg of body weight....another thing stay away from the sleeping pills if you can avoid it, i used to be on them and they make u feel like crap the next day if push comes to shove then call the police, they need to be considerate

Sorry you have to deal with this. I do empathize with you. I was once told that bad neighbors don't stay long from someone who lives in the city. She was right!

I know you shouldn't have to BUT is it possible to move your bed to another wall? Or sleep in another room? Lack of sleep SUCKS and affects all aspects of your day, as you are finding out! Once in awhile is tolerable but not all the time. Years ago I lived in an apartment and had horrible neighbors, talked to them and ended up calling the police, didn't help at all. By the time police got there nothing going on. I was told it was something I had to live with unless it was constant and much worse than what they witnessed. I felt like they TRIED to go out of their way to be noisy bad neighbors. Eventually got used to it.....until THEY finally moved :-(

If it is going to be be noisy anyway, could you put some soothing music between you and the noisy wall? Maybe it could serve as a type of buffer.

If it is an apartment, can you ask your management company to either intervene or switch you to another apartment. Usually, apartments have noise conditions (like times) that you have to follow, which are usually written into the lease. I once lived in an apartment that had it in the lease that you could not use the vacuum cleaner between the times of 8pm and 9am. If the management company intervenes and it still continues, they will usually either evict the noisy residents or move you to another apartment for no extra cost to you. It might be worth looking at your lease or talking to management.

Sorry to hear this. Have you tried a white noise machine? They can be found relatively cheap and really do block out outside noises. I used one for years.

Talk to the manager. They can only do something about it if they know about it. Enough complaints from the neighbors and they can give warnings and even evict. In the meantime, you can try a number of things to block the noise. Foam earplugs give me a better night's sleep even without noisy neighbors (I'm pretty sound-sensitive). There are also earphones for sleepers, built into fleece headbands (which can double as sleep masks), that you could use to pipe white noise into your ears. Or do both!

Thanks for the suggestions I have extreme gratitude for all of your help. I saw a white noise machine last weekend and I will go back to the store on Friday and buy one. I turned my radio on at 2:00 am and tuned it to K-Love Radio (Inspirational contemporary christian radio, but I kept the volume low enough for me to hear as I have neighbors above and below me that I am considerate of) at least I got two hours sleep before tornado warning alerts went off. I will call the management office today and try to talk to the person in charge and inquire about the noise agreement. Management has been having problems with some tents living here since September of 2015. Unfortunately because of the room layout I am unable to move my bed to the opposite wall and it's bad Feng Shui for a bathroom door to be directly across the middle of your bed. (Reason it states that during your sleep your body is cut in half and restful sleep aids in the healing of all your body cells.) I have been watching the movie "The War Room" which basically states that their is a prayerful solution to every problem. I am appealing to a higher authority while putting all of your suggestions into action steps. Gotta get moving now to do bike workout before work. Much love and gratitude to you all. Have a great day.
