There is no "secret" to losing weight...it's just simple science. You take in less calories than you burn and your weight will drop. But you can't just eat less...you have to mentally make an effort to also move more...pick two or three different activities...walking, riding an exercise bike, line dancing, juggling...whatever. Switch them up to keep your body guessing and you'll tone and drop weight at the same time. Just cutting down on the snacks, but remaining of the couch will do nothing more than make you miserable watching all those tasty food commercials. Your body will naturally try to compensate by reducing action to conserve the calories. If you keep moving, it won't allow your body to go into slacker mode and keep the pounds right where they are.

Furthermore, you can't just drop your calorie intake slightly below your necessary maintain intake level, it needs to be a serious 1:3 or better. It's not what you eat, but how much you eat... There really isn't a difference in your intake (for weight loss) if you eat 1000kcal steak dinner or 1000 calorie bag of chips. I've been here a month, kept my calorie intake below 1000k (almost every day) and I've dropped 14 lbs in that time. Although I don't agree with the calories burned chart here, I do use the site to monitor my intake levels and it has greatly helped in that aspect.

The majority of the battle is in the mind, weight loss is easy, changing behavior doesn't have to be hard, but people fight it.
