eightpac's Journal, 27 Jan 18

Getting there slowly. No matter what I will make my goal irrespective. Lost rest of my journal input not sure how, but long story short last 3 weeks has enabled me to see what I am made off. I habe not cheated once nor do I feel like it. I am on a minimalist diet and I am amazed at how much energy I get from soo little food even more than when I was grossly overeating. Anyway will be upping my intake after I buy an accurate ketone monitor today to ensure my body is kept in ketosis. Also now have some good ideas on food prep from guys here on FS. Anyway off to the gym.

Without a monitor, how do you know when your metabolism in using ketosis?

Hi Wilpena I use urinalysis Ketone sticks. They are not more than $8 for 100 of them. They have a sliding scale to show you level of ketosis. Without that it is had to guess because you can easily knock the body out of Ketosis. I now have a very accurate blood ketone monitor I bought yesterday that I have already started using it to fine tune my diet. Results I have so far from yesterday,4:11pm - After eating and exercise 2.8mmol/l ,7:03pm - 2hrs after Protein Shake - Atkins 2.3mmol, 11:00pm - After huge brazillian dinner 1800cals with 18.92g carbs, 1mmol, This morning at 7:45am, No food since 9pm last night 1.2mmol, 11:40am 1.1mmol - would have expected more from not eating for longer and walking but surprise result. In a nutshell not important to get that accurate but I maybe a bit OCD so I feel the need to know whether or not particular actions or eating are affecting my body. Thanks

Thanks, I might try to get the ketone sticks tonight as a start. Am educating my local pharmacist about ketosis as she was previously a low fat, high carbs kinda gal!
