I googled FOK/Starch diet and couldn't find anything. Sounds like you are going vegan or vegetarian and giving up processed food. Am I close?

Yes FOK=fork over knife...a plant based diet STARCH is Dr McDouglass again plant based but stressing high starch foods like beans and rice as being more filling. A lot of you tube vids by Jeanne Schmacher https://youtu.be/nSXAdJRdc8g this is one an interview with Dr M...he has tons of recipes etc online too

@Fritzy - Just as a quick disclaimer, I'm not affiliated with FOK in any way, other than being a customer. forksoverknives dot com is the main site that the documentary linked to so I went there first. From there they have their paid site - forksmealplanner dot com. I'm paying monthly, $20 a month to use the tool, which has been worth its weight in gold for me. I select what recipes I want to eat for that week from their list of about 500 recipes. Once that's done, it automatically generates a grocery shopping list. I then go down the list & check off the items I already have in my kitchen. What remains is my grocery list for that week. When I get to the store, I pull up the site on my phone & just go down the list. It has taken all the guesswork out of it for me & made it really easy to stay on plan. After the first couple trips, it's also reduced my grocery bill a good bit. I usually just have a big bowl of oatmeal with fruit & maple syrup for breakfast. I usually have a couple pieces of fruit & maybe a scone for lunch. The only planned meal I have will typically be dinner, but I've gotten to that point through a bit of trial & error. Making lunch & dinner every day was just too much food. I also make a batch of chocolate chip scones (also in the plan) every week, so If I want a quick snack or something sweet, I grab one of those. They recommend not counting calories or watching portions. Any time I'm hungry, rather than try to push through it, I eat some fruit or a scone. That's eliminated any need for willpower. If you look at my weight history, you'll notice a big plateau towards the beginning. That was a 2 week business trip where I didn't follow the plan at all. I ordered healthier items at the restaurants I went to & just focused on maintaining my weight. The other blip was Christmas. The rest of the time, I've been pretty much on plan & the pounds are just falling away. Removing that 2 week trip, it roughly translates to 21 pounds lost in a little more than 4 weeks. Not too shabby for the minimal effort I've been putting into it. The downside to the site is there doesn't seem to be any kind of online community attached to it, but that's where FS comes in.

A healthy weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week. That's from my Nutritionist.

Dryphtyr thanks for that explanation and your history with FOK...so far I have only utilized the free info and am recording my food in WW trying a combination...it sounds like FOK really works with not counting/recording just eat when hungry that's very encouraging thanks

If I can help others while I'm doing this, that's just a bonus. ;)

Dryphtyr and Janstroberg: thanks for the information. I read some of the information about FOK online and it sounds very similar to what my doctor is suggesting I do. I am going to give up beef in the new year, may eventually give up chicken, but not just yet. My problem is I really don't like beans and vegetables all that much, although I think it's just all the prep work for vegetables. I will probably do lots of stir frying in the new year and add in peas and some kidney beans. My concern is cholesterol and inflammation and this diet seems to be excellent for both concerns. I also intend to give up dairy and eat only egg whites. Giving up night shades (something I never heard of until 8Patty mentioned them) for inflammation reasons, so that includes all kinds of peppers, as well as potatoes, mushrooms, and tomatoes. I am motivated and appreciate you providing support and information. I've lost the last 20 pounds not eating healthy at all, just watching calories and not eating after 2pm. But I've been drinking lots of diet sodas and having a cup of hot chocolate every day and 1/4 to 1/2 bagel with cream cheese. All that has to stop in the new year. I think the hot chocolate will be the hardest to give up, but my next lab tests will be in June and I think I can stay motivated until then and hopefully see good results. Wish both of you (and everyone else in the FS family!) good results and a Happy New Year.
