Found this little guy yesterday on my walk. He appears injured on the right eye down to the nostril. His parents were circling above him trying to protect him. He’s a fledgling. Can’t fly yet so just out in the open where a coyote, cat, eagle or hawk would certainly have finished him off (he was in a driveway a few houses down from me). Took his to PAWS wildlife rescue this morning-100 mile round trip for me. They said he is very thin, low temp and are thinking it may be systemic. Not a good prognosis but i will keep him in my prayers. Poor baby. What a rough start to his young life. I think his parents are ones i feed daily on my morning walks so i sure hope they know somehow i am trying to help. Sounds like without intervention he would certainly have passed out there one way or the other. At least he has a chance this way.

1st pic about 11 years ago the year before my friend “the pulmonary disease” made my acquaintance. (Yellow shorts). Fluffier pic was about 5 years into prednisone’s unwelcome but necessary part of my life and the feeling of giving up on my health had taken over. Which meant i ate ice cream and milk chocolate in secret and would hide the evidence buried deep in the garbage. We didnt keep those foods in the house i would go get them after hubs went to work. Last picture was a few months ago and if we ever get a warm sunny day will take a current one. I am embarrassed and sad for the girl in the white bathing suit. She felt ill, not very sexy and unhappy with herself. The girl in the first and the last picture has her mojo back. Yes, there is damage from the 8 years i spent giving in to illness instead of fighting back. Mostly in the legs. But i sure do feel healthy, happy and whole pulmonary disease or not! Don’t give up. Don’t give in.

This is only 14 more years for me. Im using this as a visual reminder of what i am striving for on a day to day basis by eating mindfully, moving my body and exercising my mind daily. The lady on the right is what pretty much every woman in my family ages like with the exception of one aunt who is not biologically related (married to my uncle). She looks not too dissimilar to the lady on the left (who i think is Ernestine Sheppard when she was 74) which i am sure is due to a lifetime of running, competing in marathons, iron man and more. Reminder reminder reminder—take care of my body.

Two days ago had 1000 extra calories in cookies and couldnt figure out how to add them so didnt. Or didnt want to. Realizing today it coincided with MIL’s house being sold. Closed on the 14th of next month. All cash so should be no hiccups so am i going to binge that day also? Damn this monster in my head that turns to sugar for life events.
