So my weight is back up - I admit I've been struggling lately, but I'm still baffled as to how this happened. Some of it is definitely vacation weight gain from last month that I've obviously not gotten rid of, but not all of it. Well, I'm feeling a fair amount of stress from adjusting to retirement (and a reduced income). I've also been hit with about $2800 in bills from that surgery I had in July, with no way of paying it. So I'm looking for that part-time retirement job that I always assumed I'd get (after all, my car's not paid off yet), but so far no luck. Dozens of applications, a handful of interviews and no offers. I can't help but fear it's because of my age.

This coupled with not bouncing back quickly from the surgery has got me depressed, which leads to sitting around on my butt and possibly bingeing on junk food. How exactly do I afford the junk food right now? We are eating at home almost every night, and frequently having leftovers for lunch. So how did this happen? Better question is, what to do about it? Well, I've got to start logging my food intake. I've got no excuse for NOT doing it, since I'm home all day & the computer is right there. I've done some meal planning, with an eye towards nutrition and low calorie meals, but that's clearly not enough. Also, I need to move more. I've noticed my stamina is way down, last night I struggled to complete 45 minutes on the treadmill. Need to work on that. And of course, do the housework that I say I'm going to do. We'll see how this goes....

I have a friend who works part time at Starbucks. She gets makes a little money, gets free coffee, and brings home some leftover sandwiches that don't sell at then end of the day. She also gets her health insurance through them.
