When you eat fat and not carbs, you lose weight. When you count calories, you are ignoring the fact that not all calories are treated equally by your body. There is no mechanism in our bodies to store fat if fat is all you eat. The only time it is possible for our body to store fat, is when you eat carbs. This is not a crazy theory, it is a fact, and not in dispute. Fat does not raise blood sugar, carbs do. Fat does not make you fat, carbs do. Fat won't give you bad bloods, carbs do. If it sounds like fiction, try it yourself. Limit carbs to say <80g a day, eat tons of fat, and watch the weight fall off. Eating low fat foods, wholegrain breads, rice and pasta, fruits and grains will only end up causing (in most people) insulin resistance, which is the thing that pretty much all today's problems arise from. Diabtes, parkinson's, alzheimer's, obesity and CVD, all stem from the same thing, too many carbs, too much blood sugar, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome. Do some reading, do some research, pretend you were never told that fat was bad. Eat like your (thin!) grandparents and great-grandparents did! :)
