It is! I ran out of macaroni noodles so I had to use ribbon noodles in my homemade mac.

Wow - this takes me back decades. My mom used to make the most fantastic mac & cheese with ham salad. Her's would have celery and I can't remember what else. I could eat gallons. Probably did.
