So talking to the NP the other day she said I could get back to the gym. I knew there was a catch so asked her. She said I food work the biceps and triceps and bench was okay. So I asked about the 5# limit and she said yeah it’ll be hard to stick to that. Ya think?? I explained the bar is 45# and I was benching about 95# before my nerve issues and now finishing up reconstruction. She said to go with just the bar. I wonder what grade she had in math... that bar is way more than the 5# she wants me to stick to). She then tells me NO bending over and nothing like deadlifts because it works the pecks. 😳 So I explain that bench work also works the pecks so she says nope can’t do that.

I’m so not going to the gym to curl 5# dumbbells and nothing else since after talking to the dr he said no to almost all of it. But I can run. Cardio is okay. A heavy expander and implant bouncing all over is fine but don’t work those pecks! (They are over the pecks).

*sigh* someone do a set on the bench press for me please! The row machine too!

How about some butt/leg lifts to scratch the itch?!! Also, high incline walking on the treadmill is quite satisfying. Try an incline of 10% at 3-4mph for 45 min. Grab a magazine and enjoy the burn!

I hate cardio lol. If it’s not windy and someone goes with me then walking on our dirt roads is okay but treadmills are boring and I can’t walk and read. Leg stuff is okay but sure not the same as some curls or bench press! I’m working on cleaning up the weight area we have so maybe I can do some squats and curls with my 5# or 8# weights. Don’t think I want to move up to the 20# ones just yet.

If you walk or run try listening to a podcast lots to choose from and slow and easy will win the race.

We live on a dirt road so I need to be able to hear trucks coming. They don’t always get over unfortunately and sometimes they are even on the wrong side of the road! I do keep music on low sometimes just to have some noise if it’s super windy. I just can’t stand walking on a treadmill. I may have to consider it soon though. Track season is going to be over soon and I’ll go stir crazy without being able to get out of the house almost daily. I’ve gotta get over my dislike of cardio!

😳 good thing you were forthcoming about what works the pecs so you don't get hurt. She doesn't sound the brightest. Be careful and you'll be back soon!

Oh my gosh!!! Too funny that she did not know what bench press works!!! That sucks, but just do what you can. You'll eventually get back to it. Muscle memory!!!!
