Hi Folks. I’ve been hovering around 100/105kg for years and never thought much of it. Last week, my doc said that with other markers, that was one modifiable factor that could make a difference to my health outlook. So, challenge accepted.
Doc didn’t give much for pointers so it comes down to drawing on what you know and what might work. I’m not that keen on exercise so diet was going to be the key. I have done Mediterranean, keto, even pritikin in the past and also fasting.
Longer term I will concentrate on portion control, slowing down and enjoying and making small pan meals.
Right now it’s fasting and drinking lots of water. So far it’s working for me. I’m doing kind of easy fasting and had 6 oysters and some nuts today. I try to keep under 100cal. Not for everyone and maybe it will rebound on me. But I’m keeping positive and already down a size. I’m keeping focussed on the next phase too.
I like the ap because you can plug in ideas and check calories etc. that aspect used to be a pain. Also the community makes it a bit more fun :)

Fasting has a variety of benefits, however if you don't need to loose a lot of weight, but instead modify your diet for health gains, then I would suggest using the app to plug in what you were eating and drinking to maintain 100-105kg, and maybe try slowly swapping out some less healthy foods for healthier whole food options. If you go down the path of portion control (a big challenge for me), I found adding regular meal planning and prep into my routine more helpful than winging it from day to day. Stay consistent for long term gains 👍

Hi Liz, thanks so much for taking the time to comment. It certainly is a puzzle. I’m going to use your suggestion re meal planning and prep because so often it’s a last minute scramble that can lead to takeaway which is really not ideal. So this (almost fasting) is making me really conform to a regime that I can lighten up on soon, but (hopefully) keep some good habits. Today’s meal will be a scrambled egg, chopped celery and fresh chilli.
