Hi there fellow FatSecret users.
I am 59yrs & 154cm tall. I have been overweight since childhood, but somewhere in the 90’s that shifted to obese & then to morbidly obese. In 2017 came a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes & high BP, then gradually the usual things associated with obesity & meds began to follow. I reached my peak weight of 148kg in 2021. I live alone, have a desk job & my favourite pastime is cross-stitch. For many years I lived happily on highly processed foods, inc. pizza & hamburgers/chips picked up really late at night on my way home from work! Thank God for my daughter who joined a weight loss/fitness program in 2020 & transformed not only her figure, but her relationship with food & fitness. She inspired me to do the same & has coached me quietly by sharing what she learned & encouraging me along my journey (starting November 2021).
For me this will be a long term deal, undoing attitudes & habits learned in my childhood & replacing them with a lifestyle that might allow me to fully live again. My initial goal is to get my weight into double digits by Christmas 2022 (achieved Sep-22), then to half my starting weight down to 74kg in the following year (achieved 7-May-23). Together with the weight loss, I hope to be able to reduce the meds or even lose them all together *updated - stopped Diabetes meds Nov-22 WOOT!!! Halved dose of BP meds Feb-23.
*updated 2023 goals* Wt-60-65kg & increase muscle mass whilst learning to maintain. Exploring loose skin removal :/
The FatSECRET app has been a game changer for me. Love that I can plan & prep my meals for a week in advance (have developed a monthly meal plan that I enjoy & can maintain). I plug e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g I consume into this app.
I also need to mention the unexpected motivation I get from this app & that is via the wonderful community who share a little or a lot of their journey, gained knowledge & experiences as well as taking time to encourage a few others along the way!
