Debbie Cousins's Journal, 17 Feb 21

Well, NO water again today. My grandson was here for 24 hours, and since I can't EAT to relieve stress, I drink my Diet Coke. He's actually very GOOD, but the energy level and the noise level are challenging to folks set in their calm, quiet ways.

Preparing for the ice storm that is supposed to hit after 3am tomorrow morning. I've got 12 hours until the power could go out again. Steamed 12 eggs in the Instant Pot, cooked 12 pieces of bacon, made coleslaw for my husband, bought him some country ham for ham biscuits and got milk for his cereal.

It was warmer today, so we're starting out with a warm (67 degree) house. The heat pump won't heat it any higher than that when it is only 39 outside. Hopefully, if we DO lose power, it will be when we are snuggled all cozy in our beds, and it will continue only in the daytime hours.

Maybe when I win my $1,369 from accomplishing my HealthyWage cchallenge, I should buy us a really nice GENERATOR! If course, by then it will be mid-June and we won't really NEED it until next winter, but it would be nice to have for times like these.

Haven't had a bowel movement for going on three days now, so weight isn't dropping. Maybe tonight or tomorrow morning before weigh-in.

If you don't hear from me for awhile, it's because we've lost power and don't have an internet connection.

Hope and pray you get through this with a minimum of disruption. We have a generator and have not had to use it often but when we have needed it, it's been a lifesaver. We've had electric go out from ice storms and in the summer from tornados and most recent last summer's derecho (had never even heard the word before). It kept our fridges/freezers going and also our neighbors. It was so hot and humid after the storm and we didn't have electric for a week. We were afraid it would actually warp the wood in the house. We ended up getting a window air conditioner to tide us over. It was one of those things I didn't want to spend money on but husband did...now I'm grateful to have it and since we use it so little, it will last forever

I hope the storms break for you guys soon. I remember when I lived Alaska, not having a generator one year it was miserable. Grandbabies are a lot of fun, and just as much work!!!😊. I hope life gets back to normal for you soon

Hope everything is working out in your cold environment. Can you add fat to help elimination? I added a T of coconut oil and a T of MCT oil with 1 T heavy cream in my morning coffee (decaf) which is my morning meal and is delicious and satisfying. I blend it and its like a latte. Yummy.
