I’ve been working on my milk foaming skills lately. Kinda fun. Although this one sat too long while i was feeding the circus, I’m picking up skills. #jameshoffman

That dudes pro af. I didn't even know you were supposed to weigh coffee. Or buy based on roast date.

I don’t weigh and my buy by date purchasing is questionable, but i do grind daily, i buy decent beans and I’ve been watching his videos on how to make the best coffee using what you have. And I’ve learned a lot. Milk included. I can get 1/2 cup of microfoam from 1/2 liquid ounces of milk.

How are you foaming? I stopped watching his vlds when I caught myself scheming where I was going to put a vintage commercial espresso machine and thinking that it totally made sense to spend hundreds on a proper coffee grinder. I have kitchen problems ....

I do weigh and I also grind daily, but doing just fine with my $12 blade grinder and a cheapo French Press from webstaurant. I found good recent roast beans online for around $10/lb landed, and they were delish, but the whole bean French Roast has been on sale at the grocery store at half that...

I have a single function breville cafe roma I bought off a guy in a really shady part of town near the border years back when I was stupid and naive and did stuff like that. guy had high walls, cameras, dogs. yeah, I'm an idiot in hindsight. I can't "dial it in" but I have 15 bars of pressure to work with and I'm quite good at the microfoam. when I see the right machine on next-door or by the dumpster in the condo, I will upgrade. my coffee is the fancy stuff they have in three pound bags at costco (Old SF Bay French Roast) or Lavazza espresso if I'm feeling a little crazy.

My “other” coffee machine is an aeropress. Vintage at this point. Still rocks. Kept me safe from the office swill water for years.

Our boy talked me into one of those! Opened the box and there we like 30 parts. Ridiculous. I made one attempt at an "espresso" with that thing, then boxed it up and sent it back... I know they great and all, just too much parts and directions for me...

Dude, an aeropress is just a coffee plunger. Three pieces and a filter. They’re awesome.
