good stuff for rebuilding at night + delicious - but quick question, i had read, and that's the problem with the internet (!) - that our bodies can only process X amount of grams per feeding (or in so many hours) - do you know that number? i want to say it is 50 grams but i am not sure, but figured if there was someone who knew, it would be you. it also may depend on an individual's weight and muscle mass as well. dunno.

ah, found it, and it varies, but looks like 25-40g, in that range, per meal. sound right?

Is it a scie topic study proving it? I'm walking right now but I'm pretty sure that's a myth. From my understanding the animo acids remain in circulation until the muscles need them. I know that it's better to split the protein up evenly but since I got waaaay more than I needed yesterday, it shouldn't matter. It will just lower my net calories since protein takes the most energy to break down. Also, protein feedings make a difference but even some people I follow who do IF or OMAD still have great results so that alone shows me that protein in 1 or 2 meals must so work when needed so to speak

💯 agree w you. Seems like there’s not “too much” in the way of protein besides body breaking it down. One was NIH. I will dig it up.

This one was interesting to read. "It also should be noted that subjects in Areta et al. [3] ingested nothing but whey protein throughout the post-exercise period. Whey is a “fast-acting” protein; its absorption rate has been estimated at ~ 10 g per hour [5]. At this rate, it would take just 2 h to fully absorb a 20-g dose of whey. While the rapid availability of AA will tend to spike MPS, earlier research examining whole body protein kinetics showed that concomitant oxidation of some of the AA may result in a lower net protein balance when compared to a protein source that is absorbed at a slower rate [10]. For example, cooked egg protein has an absorption rate of ~ 3 g per hour [5], meaning complete absorption of an omelet containing the same 20 g of protein would take approximately 7 h, which may help attenuate oxidation of AA and thus promote greater whole-body net positive protein balance. An important caveat is that these findings are specific to whole body protein balance; the extent to which this reflects skeletal muscle protein balance remains unclear."

So I guess 93 grams of slower digesting protein lasted me the whole night easily if it takes that long to absorb. 3g per hour for egg protein? I had no idea it was that slow lol

So from the 3-4 articles I just read it seems that up to 55g(for my bodyweight .6 g per kilo of body weight) is fine in 4+ separate meals. I had already done that yesterday and the extra 40 in this one was just a bonus. I ended up with 243 grams yesterday.

I had read that the best protein that our bodies can actually utilize is from eggs. Thanks for sharing the details of what you found. I do thrill, as you’ve pointed out, depends on weight and lean muscle mass most likely, as well as the absorption rate of different types of protein. As always, thought provoking and insightful post.

“Think” … NOT “thrill”. 😂

Yep, the bioavailability of egg protein is like 93%. The protein from this PB is vegan so it's bioavailability is pretty low. I think I recall it being half as good as dairy protein.
