The 1,650 calorie meal I had today whilst on OMAD Keto. This can't be right...

And it's not, really. I've been keeping low carb as possible, though haven't paid any attention to the overall macro-nutrient ratios. I now know that Keto is a low carb, MODERATE PROTEIN, high fat diet - apparently too much protein can halt ketosis - haven't bothered to learn why. It's only day three, though so far protein and fat have been pretty much 50/50. Unless I see some kind of miracle number on the scales tomorrow, I'm pretty sure I'm going to drop the keto and stick with just OMAD and CICO - it's been working OK for me so far. I would probably see similar gains by just drinking more water and getting more sleep. A big part of making this diet work is making it sustainable, especially when life chooses to lay it on thick. It's clear that I'm far too time poor to make Keto work for me.

Interesting comment about the protein in keto... I had not heard that before... how did your body respond after having this as your fuel for the 24hrs? Did you find work the next day more productive or less so do you think?

I believe it's because to much protein can turn into glucose for a source of energy

Have you looked into the fast800 diet ? If you’re interested in OMAD and low carb or Keto you might find it more palatable than meals like this x

I think look for a diet that is long term sustainable cause that is key after getting to your goal weight. I’m not a fan of keto or fasting I know keto would never work with me cause I can’t stand fatty foods everyday and fasting I haven’t tried it yet but right now have 3 main meals with 2 snack meals in between and that is working for me.

Hi evaandy, I hope you mean 1800cal, or that you've spoken with your doctor before attempting an 800cal diet. The meal in the photo is 1650cal, so just shy of my daily 1700cal limit.

Hi UDTres, I'm certainly no fan of keto either. I'm kind of treating it as a short term experiment to see if it can get my weight loss moving again. My son brought an especially potent virus cocktail home from day care and my weight loss stopped the moment my nose started running. As for fasting, I love it! I've felt so much better since I started doing it that I'll likely never stop.

I would set my protein to my target weight say 180lbs = 180g protein daily this is important for body composition
