Survived yesterday's three power outages (longest 5 hours) without going off Keto, PTL! Got absolutely NOTHING done yesterday, as it was too cold to get unbundled from the blanket in my recliner. Fortunately, we had some HotHands hand warmers to put in our gloves and socks to keep our hands and feet warm. I'm feeling a little motivated today - gotta boil ("steam," really) some eggs in the Instant Pot. Will probably make a small cake for my husband to use the rest of the German Chocolate icing. Making Sea Salt & Roasted Mahi-mahi (Inland Pantry brand) for us for dinner tonight, and I have worked out my food diary so that I can have 1/4 cup of Jasmine Red & Wild Rice with that. Got my Atkins bars yesterday: Chocolate Coconut Bars (which taste like a Mounds candy bar), Caramel Nut Chew Bars (which taste like a Snickers) and Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars (which have higher protein, and higher calories, but are really good to cut into 12 pieces and melt each piece between two pecan halves) They have 9, 5 and 12g of Fiber, respectively, so at least I'm getting in a LITTLE Fiber each day. Plus, the Malitol in them helps me to go to the bathroom - TOO quickly, if I eat more than one bar, which I haven't been.

Ok, that's all the news from my house. Ketoing forward!

Glad to hear you guys 'survived' the cold and hope that's the end of THAT for the year. Just brutally cold here, no ice to disrupt things. I've had the russell stover SF candies. It gives a warning on the package about the malitol. Because sometimes I just can't help myself, I decided to see how many was too many...the answer is 6. 6 is too many and you will find yourself running back and forth to the bathroom. But boy are they good🤦‍♀️💩

My thought on the rice is that though you may be able to work it in it can throw you out of ketosis because it is very carby (and high glycemic) Are you measuring to check? If you want to eat rice you should probably eat it cold to activate the resistant starches in it. But it might be better to find alternatives like cauliflower rice. All depends. If it works for you, then it is fine. It would not work for me. Hope you have a warmer day today

Haven’t done a Ketone strip in months but tested to find I’m in moderate Ketosis myself. KETO on! (But keep your protein up!)

Just started a coconut Ketogenic plan yesterday. Book recommends 3 tablespoons of fat per meal 3 times a day but starts by adding 1/2 T per meal if 3 is too much. I have been eating fat so I tolerate it pretty well. It also recommends under 30 grams of carbohydrates a day. I felt better yesterday with more fat and church in the morning.

Hang in there. 5 hrs without electricity is difficult to manage if you have electric heat. We have heat but managing with the water turned off for this long makes me realize how tough our ancestors had it with no running water or electricity! We brought our outdoor dog in the house last night -- he thought he was being punished at first, but soon learned to like it! I am making soups in the crock pot so I don't have so many dishes to wash in our limited water supplies. Today is chicken with black soybean spaghetti.
