Debbie Cousins's Journal, 24 Oct 22

After a couple days of unexplained constipation, only ended up with a one-pound loss for the week (and am still back up into the 230's at 230.6, ugh!) I'm a little bit discouraged, because I was hoping to get back down into the 229's like I was a couple of days ago. But, I guess I still have that to look forward to next week! Considering that I had a higher calorie daily average last week, a one-pound loss isn't bad.

Shooting for 1,300's to 1,400's in calories this week! If I can stay away from the extra breakfast, I should be able to do it easily. We'll know soon enough. Hopefully, I'll have a good clean-out today, and I'll see the scales go down tomorrow morning. I LOVE starting the week with a good loss!

Looking forward to this week's Daily Accountability challenge. Be sure to read the article in the Challenge Forum called "Challenge How-To's." It will explain why it doesn't LOOK like the challenge has started yet, even though it has. Also, remember that you still have all day to JOIN it if you're not already in.

Since my knees have been feeling better, I'm going to attempt the mini-challenge of Increasing my Exercise. Back to walking the length of my house. Maybe even sometime during the week, I'll venture outside and try to walk around the 1/2-mile perimeter of our property. Mild temps and no rain in the forecast, so good conditions for an outside walk. I'm just a little more wary of that because of uneven places on the ground where I might twist something or wrench my knee. We'll see. Even if I don't actually do the outside walking, just thinking about it is progress!

Would a walking stick help? Or maybe invest in hiking poles? A couple of more points of contact on the ground couldn't hurt if you're worried about misstepping. I think you'll find the benefits of being outside go far, far beyond the exercise 😊

I've heard that a walking stick can be helpful. I'll have to check on Amazon and see how much something like that would cost IF I get serious about walking outside. Yes, there are more benefits to it than just the exercise. My psychiatrist used to tell me that I need to be in the sunshine at least a half an hour a day, and a coworker used to say the sunshine was "free Vitamin D." Thanks for your input!

I've also seen some talk that the infrared radiation is beneficial, too, especially for the immune system, and it works even if you're fully clothed and slathered in sunscreen. If you feel warm, it's working. Consider checking into a pair of hiking poles in addition to walking sticks. I don't think they're all that expensive, and that gives you points of contact on both sides if you need to catch yourself. You might look at Sierra Trading Post online -- they usually carry quality stuff. Enjoy your walks! 😁

Thanks @writingwyp. I walked a mile today! Hooray! Not going to do any more today because I don't want to push my knees too hard. Tomorrow, I have to go to BJ's, and that place is so big that it usually gives me a good amount of steps in!

I agree with WW...I love my hiking/walking poles! Now I just need a nice backpack so I don't have to worry about carrying my purse😉😎
