TDX00's Journal, 21 Dec 22

My general state of mind is currently entwined with my weight loss progress. In other words, my weight spiking despite my efforts has made me really fucking miserable! So close to Christmas, on leave from work, screaming kids still in daycare - it should be a happy time, but here I am grinching and humbugging up the place!

I guess a big part of it too is that I know I won't get to enjoy any of the culinary delights that make it really feel like Christmas. No drinking, no glazed ham, none of my Dad's pavlova, and most significantly, no cob loaf! My friend's Christmas BBQ a few days ago made it abundantly clear that my weight loss progress very immediately goes to absolute shit, to the point of defying basic physics, if I dare partake of a whiff of any indulgence. Late on Christmas morning, when you're up to your third dark chocolate Lindt ball and the smell of baked ham and fresh bread is wafting though the house, spare a thought for old TDX00. He'll be sitting on that chair in the corner of the living room, the one you can't really see the TV from, a canteen of cold, black coffee on the ground beside him, a few pairs of new socks and jocks on his lap, looking utterly miserable. Bah Humbug!

How about this for a menu.?...Fresh fruit salad for breakfast, no snacking, enjoy Christmas lunch without seconds, limit chocolate to one dark chocky, and fresh gazpacho soup for tea. 🤔You deserve a happy day!

Don't worry about Christmas. Enjoy yourself as there are not many days you can break a diet! I have put on a few extra grams but I will lose it soon after. h You have to find balance.

Remember, you'll be far from alone! You can still eat the goodies, just not as much. It's amazing how enjoyable sucking on a lindt ball is when you know it's your only 1, or 2. Savour the sensations!

Wow ! It’s not that bad. You have three days to save up some calories and add them on to Christmas. I have already set my plan for Christmas Day and it is about 500 calories ( including 2 glasses of vino ) over my allowance Get with the plan and try to relax. I know we love to vent. But this is not the end of the world as we dieters know it. Just a few days of enjoying that Lindt ball as spicehorn says You go for it ! We are all in the same boat and it is not sinking. Take care.

Yes, it's moderation, not restriction!

PS, enjoy the day while accepting that you WILL gain a kg or 2! Then it won't be a shock. It WILL come off again, the glazed ham is worth it, and the pav, and the fresh cob. What's an extra 2 days or so waiting to wear the infamous shirt? Nothing! Have a very Merry Christmas!!!

Why on earth would you so no to all those wonderful things. Enjoy them all in moderation and take an extra walk next week ( or two :) chin up, it’s easy to get bogged down in the hard work of it all. Life is for enjoying. Merry Christmas xx
