TDX00's Journal, 22 Dec 22

Thanks all for the supportive messages lately! I know I'm not the best with replies, though I truly do appreciate them! I'm always checking my phone to see what my self-enlisted support team have to say!

When I started this diet in early August, I used this same journal to force myself to focus on why all my past diets had failed, to help avoid the same mistakes this time around. One of the key points of failure was using special events as an excuse to take a break (which ultimately never end) - birthdays, Christmas... Friday. It certainly sounds reasonable that I should be able to cut myself some slack on Christmas Day, but the truth is that I just don't trust myself enough to risk it, especially now when I'm already feeling pretty down on my recent progress. The best gift I can give my family is a happy and healthy father, and that's worth far more to me than a few rum balls and breakfast beers on Christmas Day. So yes, I'm going to greatly lament missing out on all those indulgences, though I'm also going to be pretty proud of myself for having the strength to keep my diet on track through it all. I just hope it pays off! All I want for Christmas is my scales to show the 114.0kg they were supposed to be showing by yesterday.
116.3 kg Lost so far: 22 kg.    Still to go: 26.3 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

Very nicely put. It’s a present we can give ourselves as well as our family. This year I am trying to concentrate on what is important to me, not just what is convenient or available. Nobody has noticed I haven’t been eating the incredible food people are bringing in and providing. I tell everyone how delicious it is and thank them profusely. If I have an event I want to indulge in I plan around it with other strategies so that it’s not a compounded impact. The kids and their families don’t realise they are getting a keto Xmas lunch this year as I will do a large pile of roast potatoes on the side, and I’ll just drink gin instead of wine. 😋

Best Christmas present for the kids, a happy and healthy dad, Christmas is about being with family enjoying the children, laughter, games, just being together, not just about the food. You are inspirational Merry Christmas, I am praying for you to see that 114 on the scale and i am cheering you on :)
