TDX00's Journal, 03 Feb 23

I've recently been ruminating on the concept of counting calories on a weekly basis, rather than daily. From the little I've read, doing so would make little to no difference to weight loss progress and would, in theory, make my diet a little more flexible. I've also heard that competitive eaters push this concept to the extreme by adjusting their calories to compensate on the days they don't eat 37 hot dogs in one sitting.

Well today I'm putting this concept into practice, though more so as a recovery plan for the roughly 600kcal of Indian food I enjoyed with my wife last night upon celebration of our 9th anniversary. Worth it! I've lopped 200kcal from my budget over the next three days to compensate, so we'll see how that goes...
109 kg Lost so far: 29.3 kg.    Still to go: 19 kg.    Diet followed: Poorly.

It works for me! If I muck up I know I have till Sunday to fix it up. I like how there is a week-view in the Report section of this app, it's pretty helpful. Happy anniversary, and Indian needs to be enjoyed 🥳

...the 'Daily Average' number in red under 'Calories' is what I keep my eye on most.

Happy Anniversary 🎈. I would be very interested in your progress if you continue with the weekly calorie counting. Sounds intriguing!

Ummmm, when I say the average daily Val's are in red, well, that's because my overage is 150 over where it should be 🤣 I'm guessing it should be black 🤔

I know a few competitive eaters and they all say that this isn't an ideal lifestyle so they mostly only do this for a set period of time before a challenge, in between they eat healthy and work out. Maybe look into intermittent fasting to achieve the results you're aiming for rather than cutting calories dramatically and then gorging. Just a suggestion. Good luck with whatever you choose. :)

Thanks @spicehorn, I'd never messed around with the reports tab before - very handy! Thanks @Justagirlinoz, I've been on OMAD since September.

And thanks all for the well wishes! My MIL is babysitting tonight so my wife and I can go out for dinner. My one meal a day is usually breakfast, so I've had to starve all day. Impromptu 35-hour fast... I don't love it.

Look up Dr Berg on youtube, he is a wealth of knowledge on health and dieting the right way. he is not concerned with counting calories, more on eating the right food

@Fight for your rights, you've chosen an odd place to spruik NOT calorie counting, here on this calorie counting app that has helped me lose over 30kg...

Not spruiking anything. If theres stubborn weight loss happening then he has alot of info regarding that. He doesnt count carbs from veges

It's the calorie counting action that has resolved my problem for weightloss, it's the system which works for my body. Low carbs didn't work, I love my veges thanks.
