Katsolo's Journal, 23 Mar 24

Oh, happy happy sunny morning soon to be followed by a winter storm weekend. Long walk last night, gorgeous evening although i got out the door later than i would have chosen.

So much going on in life these days. I don’t usually do this, but cherish what you have here and now. Life is shorter than you know and things can change overnight. It’s not me or my mom, but a friend. She’ll be fine, but gonna take some serious rest and good healing. I offered help, we’ll see if she asks.

In a weird convergence of things, it seems that three sets of my close friends are all making plans to accommodate their aging parents nearby. It’s hitting us all at the same time. Trying to figure out some related projects going forward, wish the world would settle down a bit so I can make decisions without added anxiety. Will probably wait a bit because I need to feel comfortable with what I’m signing up to. Basically, looking at tearing down my office in the back and installing a true granny flat as I know that driving may not be realistic forever. There’s a ton of incentive from the City right now, but it’s giving up my privacy and other concerns as well as the financial burden of trying to build anything in California. I don’t want to move and my cottage is not big enough for both of us as is. So, we look at options before it’s a crisis. I also have to remember to put myself first so as to maintain my ability to take care of others. That one is so hard sometimes.

Blob up this morning, everything else is down although muscle is holding at an acceptable level. Will get some good movement in outside and straightening up the house. Oh yeah, that silly tax thing, too. Trying to not wait until the last minute.

Edit: For personal data points only. Metabolic age now showing as 2 years below my actual age, walking VO2 Max has increased by .3 this month which is great because we only walk and the dogs still sniff and do dog things and it’s already above average for my age. That took a huge plummet when Sadie and Shasta got sick and it’s been hard getting a substantial improvement without running, but I have.

Some spring flowers amongst the cacti for a little change. I love this house, it’s a happy place with good vibes. Was hard to get a good pic of their wall because the whole thing is painted but there are cars blocking it if I try to stand in the busy street.

Weekend rules, enjoy the day.

Very pretty. I’m sorry you’re going through this. That’s nice your mom is open to moving in one day. Good to talk about it now but oh so hard.

No need to feel sorry, this is all about life. It is what it is, and I’m thankful for all of it.
