Yesterday was my works mid year function, we usually do some type of game first then go to a restaurant for dinner. So we left work and limo's were waiting out the front of the building. They drove us to an escape room. Upon arrival there was champagne and sushi (of which I had none). We spent an hour in the escape room working through the clues and eventually finding our way out of the Da Vinci Room. Next we hopped on a tram and went to a pub for another drink. (Water was my choice), then finally at 8:30pm we went to a restaurant for dinner.

I was starving. I knew that we were going out so I tried to save my calories and hunger for the evening, so all I had during the day was a coffee at breakfast, a small tin of tuna with lemon juice for lunch and a handful of oven roasted almonds. I was really dreading dinner as I didn't know where we were going. Turns out that it was a seafood restaurant. Couldn't have asked for better. Prawn cocktail from the 70's for entree, salmon & broccoli for main, no dessert and only water to drink again.

I went through a lot of peer group pressure from most people there last night and I just sailed on, sticking to my way of eating and not letting them break me down.

In the past I would have let them win, I would have folded and given in, but not this time. I am doing this for me and not for anyone else. I deserve to succeed. If I choose to eat something that I should not have, I am only cheating my self, they do not come into this equation any more. I feel strength from my decisions last night and handled it all in a low key manner. I did not feel like I was missing out on anything. Sorry for such a long rant, but I like to look back and read over my own journey sometimes to remind me of the steps that I have taken to get where I want to be. Cheers Jenn

Thanks for your supportive comments Josh, Jane & Fiona. We all had an amazing time, and I had personal growth even though it was team building night.
