I have been stalled for over a week but still following LCHF aiming for calorie split of 80-15-5 for fat/protein/carbs and a deficit of about 500-700 cals. I have an issue with narrowing of my spinal canal and in 2009 it got quite bad and my spinal cord was pinched and I had to have a laminectomy on 2 vertebrae. My spine has been a bit weaker and susceptible to further issues if I get a bit careless with my movements.Consequently I have become more sedentary because my back hurts and my weight has crept up (probably mostly from eating too many rubbish carbs and the lower activity hasn't helped either). About 5 or 6 months ago, I did a bunch of blood glucose monitoring and found that I am a bit carb sensitive and insulin resistant with my BC shooting up to around 9 or even 10 with pasta or potatoes or sweetened desserts etc. and taking several hours to go back down. I then tried to reduce carbs and improve carb quality and cut the sugars and starchy carbs and researched about LCHF and decided to try it. My fasting glucose is now down to 5.2-5.3 mmol, from mid 6's and if I watch my carbs and get the macro split about right, my BG only rises by about .5-.8 mmol and triggers a smaller insulin spike. I think intermittent fasting and a bit of calorie cycling helps break the plateaus too. I think I might be a bit lactose sensitive (I feel a bit queasy after milk/cream/cheese) so I am limiting that at the moment too to see if it is adding to the plateau. I think our bodies seem to cycle a bit with weight loss, so I think you have to keep at it and not get discouraged. For me it seems that I lose a bit each of 4 or 5 days and then it slows, but after a bit of a stall it then continues. You just need to remember that during these times as long as you stick at it and don't give up you will see progress soon.
