was hoping to go off prednisone. seems to be causing weight gain even though I am staying within calorie range. I guess I just need to lower it more. I can't increase exercise too much as I don't want to stress my body out more than it is. oh, well. I can just keep trying. once off prednisone a lot should drop as a lot is water weight. This is why mu G.P said she won't be monitoring my weight til I am off prednisone.
very frustrating.

Hang in there. You're building good eating habits for when you can reduce Prednisone. Remember, by reducing your calorie intake anyways you're giving so many organs in your body a well earned rest. Well done!

Exercise accounts for very little of your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), so I wouldn't stress too much about pushing yourself to exercise more if you main goal is weight loss (rather than fitness). How many calories are you on a day?

I can attest to prednisolone messing with your weight... I recently had only a 10 day course and it has seemingly halted my weight loss for a further two weeks and counting... I am maintaining my calorie deficit but it was hard while on the treatment... I was hungrier than I remember being in the past year... Hoping you can keep on track and that you can wean off the prednisolone soon!!!

You've both got me worried now. By strange coincidence, I've just started a course of prednisone because tendonitis has flared up in my wrist (for no good reason).

this is unfortunately the common side effect of this steroid. Also, reducing your calorie intake too far will see you store fat! don't drop too low! good luck until you come off it! definitely discuss alternatives if possible with your doctor to see if there is something less likely to be counteractive to weight loss. now that is one of the first questions I ask my Dr when they want to trial new medications! will it affect my ability to lose weight? if so, what other options do I have!

Ahh what the shit! I've been dieting perfectly, though my weight has been creeping back up since starting prednisone a few days ago! I'd prefer the the inflamed tendons over the weight gain 😡
