In my first 7 days on this diet, my sugar intake was 4.3% of my calories, and my carbs were 13.4%. Im going to see if I can get my sugar to 3% or less. I think I will need to up my fat intake and lower protein slightly. I will add nuts to my diet when I hit the lean muscle gaining phase, this will increase some fats and the calories

Hi Colin, have you ever heard of the nutritional ketosis diet? Plenty of stuff on youtube if you want to check it out. Too early for me to say if its working for me yet.

Hi Stephen, I'm waiting to see what happens to you first lol. The idea seems very good, and I think you will obtain good results if you keep to it; but I just haven't the time to spend on the planning that's required, nor would I have the discipline to adhere to it. I previously tried VLCD (very low calorie diet) a while back to induce ketosis but was insanely hungry. I did lose a lot of weight quickly, as might be expected when eating only 800 calories a day, but was it healthy ? I doubt it. I came to the conclusion the shakes are all a load of crap despite the fact the rapid weight loss induced. In retrospect I could have achieved far better results than the VLCD shakes and at a fraction of the cost by simply drinking lots of water and taking a multi-vitamin tablet, and consuming 800 calories of nutritious food daily. The reason I came to hate the commercially marketed shakes is that they are a scam. They all contain (No matter whether Optifast or Tony Fergusson or whatever brand) between 37 - 50% sugar - Scandalous ! I could not believe it when I read the nutritional data on the packet. Your keto diet sounds a lot lot better , no sugar and low carbs, but I just dont have the time to do it. I'm targeting 1200 calories daily with a 40:40:20 Protein:Carb:Fat ratio because I dont want to feel too hungry and little planning is required - I just use the Lite n Easy pre-cooked diners and supplement them as necessary.'No cooking, shopping or meticulous planning required ! I will watch your progress with interest, good luck.

I was looking at the Lite N Easy dinners too, around $9 a meal it looks OK. Im having too much protein powder atm but I brought too much too soon lol. They will come in handy when I up the calories to 3000 or so a day to see if i can gain lean muscle mass. No weight loss this week for me so Im a little dejected, I have not been cheating at all. I do miss my bananas and watermelon too.

I'm having the same problem, stuck at 86 kg. Will continue another week then reassess. Maybe you just need to wait a little longer for the ketosis to kick in ?
