janetofnq's Journal, 24 Aug 15

I have social problems. That is the first time I have ever admitted that. I drink to embarrassing excess in social settings and I eat like a labrador when people are around me. The only exercise I do is walking around shopping centres, generally looking for the food court. I need to think seriously about this. I am too old to be belting myself around. My birthday is a month away. I am about to give myself a gift, the permanent loss of 4kg (one each week). Those weeks should allow me to learn new habits and ditch the damaging habits. Water and soups will be a large component, confectionery and alcohol severely restricted.
Daily diary here I come, in earnest.

Good luck Janet. I know what it's like to not have that 'off' switch. Whether it be food or drink there doesn't seem to be any stopping point once I've started. I know what it's like to have to learn new habits and I also know how hard it is to stick to them so I hope that however you choose to make a change, it works for you and you reach your goal.

Hi Janet - Good luck with this, and I hope that you find success in it. I understand the eating like a labrador part when people are around - I think it is because sharing meals and food is such a social thing and combined with the restrictions we place on our pantries in regular times and it's like opening the floodgates to salty deep-fried goodness.
